Well, this year's harvest of garlic is DONE, DONE, DONE! Everything is bagged us and ready for sale. The best producers this year were the Romanian Red and the Inchelium Red . We have some other great producers too, but these were our personal favorites. We've been working on getting some more ground ready for this winter's planting and are looking to expand our varieties....stay tuned!

So, after the garlic was in and DONE, we decided to play hookie from the farm and take a much needed vacation to the AMAZING Joseph, OR and Wallowa Lake. If you haven't visited, YOU MUST!!! Seriously, we need to move there! The Wallowa's are one of the seven wonders in Oregon...Now back to reality. The supply of Salsa Verde is canned for the year, and green beans are canned. Also tried out Cranberry Pepper Jelly and home canned Cranberry/Orange sauce (for the holiday's). YUMM! I managed to squeeze in about 20 jars of Vanilla Bean Pear Jam also...oh, and 20 pounds of dill pickles, all in one day! Next we are on to canning 40 pounds of Yukon Gold Potatoes( they are the only ones that hold up to canning), and are fantastic in soups all winter.
About the garlic, we decided to add German Extra Hardy to our selection, and picked up some from a fellow garlic grower and mentor while we were East. We are also adding Persian Star, Leningrad and Georgian Fire. Can't wait to see these produce! Most likely we are eliminating a couple of varieties from our planting (or we may do a small planting/test patch) as we weren't happy with their performance this year. Stay tuned.....

Well, now that we are SOLD OUT of seed garlic, we are on to making Garlic Powder. This is done by cleaning, slicing and drying the garlic, then grinding it up...Can't wait to see how this turns out.
Update...the garlic powder is amazing!!! We are almost sold out!
